Dr. Kenneth Chapman

Dr. Kenneth Chapman

Founder & President

Dr. Kenneth Chapman is the founder and current president of Inspiration Research Limited. He is also the director of the Asthma and Airway Centre at the University Health Network. A graduate of the University of Toronto and a former member of the faculty at Case Western Reserve University, he is now a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He chaired Canada’s first Consensus Conference to establish Canadian guidelines for the management of COPD.

Dr. Chapman has recently been named to the CIHR-GSK Research Chair in Respiratory Health Care Delivery. Dr. Chapman is an internationally respected researcher in the field of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and airway diseases. His publications have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Lancet. The titles of more than 400 publications ranges “Emergency medical services for outdoor rock music festivals” to “The effect of posture on thoracoabdominal movements during progressive hyperoxic hypercapnia in conscious man”. Dr. Chapman has been cited more than 6000 times.

Clinical Research Manager

Dhwani is a certified clinical research professional with over seven years of experience in preclinical and clinical research. She holds a master’s degree in clinical pharmacology and a master’s in public health, providing her with a strong foundation in both scientific research and population health. Her expertise spans a wide range of therapeutic areas, including pulmonology, endocrinology, oncology, and rheumatology. Dhwani’s early work in pulmonary research sparked a deep interest in rare respiratory diseases, particularly alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. As an active member of the Canadian Thoracic Society, Dhwani is passionate about promoting evidence-based, patient-centered care in clinical respiratory practice. At IRL, Dhwani is responsible for managing overall clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and budget planning for all research projects.

Sabah A

Clinical Research Coordinator

Sabah has 10 years of experience as a registered respiratory therapist and a clinical research coordinator. She brings her extensive patient care background to the field and manages a wide range of clinical trials focused on asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and chronic cough. She works closely with investigators, healthcare teams, and patients to ensure research protocols are executed effectively, while maintaining data integrity and regulatory compliance. Her contributions support the development of new treatments and enhance our understanding of chronic respiratory conditions. In addition to her research work, she oversees the pulmonary function lab and conducts breathing tests that support both clinical care and research protocols.

Kayla has been a valued member of IRL since 2017, bringing dedication and attention to detail to every aspect of her work. As a clinical research coordinator, she plays a key role in managing study logistics, supporting participants, and ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple clinical trials. With years of hands-on experience, Kayla is committed to advancing medical research and contributing to high-quality, ethical studies that make a real impact in the respiratory health field.

Joanna J

Research and Administrative Assistant

Joanna graduated with an MSc. from the University of Helsinki with a focus on translational biomedical research and is passionate about providing the best, most effective care. Having gained expertise working with a rare skin cancer, she developed a strong interest in rare diseases and now focuses on the rare alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency among other respiratory conditions at IRL. She currently aids with clinical trials and clinical registries and manages the pulmonary function testing laboratory.
